We are so grateful to you all for coming along, engaging in our event, instigating good conversations with the team, and for providing some good constructive challenge too. We truly believe this is an exciting time to be involved in Scouting in North Yorkshire!
We are going through the transformation programme to make our volunteers lives easier and ultimately attract new volunteers to join The Scouts. By doing this we will be able to provide more young people with even more skills for life.
There are four key areas we would like local teams to familiarise themselves with: moving to teams-based volunteering, establishing a Trustee Board with a clear focus on Governance, moving from training to learning, and updating our membership system.
We are conscious that some local teams are uncomfortable with some of the new role titles. At the end of the day, a Scout Leader is still a Scout Leader and Akela is still Akela. We are still all here to do the same thing we always have been - provide skills for life to young people. We are sure most people do not volunteer for The Scouts for the title that comes with it. Please do all you can locally to try and keep your teams focused on the important changes we are doing to improve the volunteer experience and the reasons we are dong this and not get too distracted by what we are call ourselves.
We have pulled together the answers that Max, Craig, Phil and Lars gave on Sunday with the questions we didn't get time to answer too.
