Hello, we are Nanyang Tennis (NYT) and we are pleased to have you join our NYT family!
Our team motto is: “The Legs Feed the Wolf”. It is a quote from the movie, Miracle on Ice about an ice hockey game during the 1980 Winter Olympics. It relates to how one must adopt a wolf’s instinct to survive – to win, one must give their all. This motto has been our constant driving force behind all our training. Like wolves that hunt in packs, we support one another and stay together through the highs and lows of our CCA experience as one family.

"My time in Nanyang Tennis has undoubtedly been one of my most fulfilling and memorable experiences throughout my 4 years in Nanyang. Our team looks forward to NSG every year as we get to play for the school together in 6 crucial matches and support each other through the highs and the lows in our matches. Tennis is an individual sport, but it is through the loud cheers and network of support that I truly understood the meaning of teamwork and camaraderie. One core memory for my division (B25 & B26) would be NSG 2023, where we came in as NSG champions for the first time in 106 years, even though we were the underdogs we fought hard together and cheered each other on during all our matches. To be able to celebrate and forge such unforgettable memories with our teammates really strengthened our love for tennis and NYT.
CCA sessions not only help our team improve but have also helped us improve as players tremendously. Under the coaching of our coach, coach XT i have learnt so much invaluable advice that i could use for my matches in NSG as well as develop myself as a tennis player. Training involves drills that cater to our needs and areas in which we need improvement, while matchplay and practice sessions with each other during training has helped all of us prepare well for NSG. Moreover, the CCA sessions twice a week has made NY tennis feel like a 2nd family as I am able to bond with my teammates and form such a close knitted community with people who share the same passion for tennis as me."

"NSG is by far one of my fondest memories in Nanyang Tennis and in Nanyang itself. Getting up early to warm up at the courts before our matches, tying blue and yellow ribbons in our hair, and cheering loudly for our teammates who are playing are some things that I will truly never forget. NSG is probably the one thing that unites our divisions and CCA as a whole. Not only does it hone our skills and allow us to play against players from different schools, but it also gives us a platform to bond as one CCA, between batches, and work towards a common goal.
Additionally, the spirit of discipline and hard work we cultivated during training was crucial for NSG. Those long hours on the court under the sun paid off, not just in terms of technique but also in how we trusted and relied on one another in every match. Having our teammates by our side to constantly encourage us really helps too. Ultimately, training is not just about physical preparation – it is about fostering a mindset of resilience, focus, and unity that carried us through the highs and lows during NSG.
Overall, I am proud to say that despite the hot weather and tough training sessions, I love Nanyang tennis with all my heart and I wouldn’t trade it for the world."
