Have you ever wondered what it feels like to be at the heart of a powerful symphony? Since its formation in 1995, the Nanyang String Ensemble (NYSE) has been where musical journeys truly begin, welcoming everyone from seasoned musicians to complete beginners looking to pick up a new instrument.

With a vibrant family of over 60 members playing the violin, viola, cello, double bass, and even the harp, NYSE is more than just a CCA—it’s a community of passionate storytellers.

• World-Class Leadership: Grow under the baton of Mr. Lim Soon Lee, former Music Director of the NUS Symphony Orchestra, former associate principal viola of Singapore Symphony Orchestra. No Experience? No Problem!

We believe everyone has a song to play. If you are picking up an instrument for the first time, you will join our Training Ensemble (TE). Spend your first year building a solid foundation and gaining confidence before graduating into the Main Ensemble (ME).

• Chamber Music: Lead small-group discussions on performance techniques and musical interpretation.

• Arts Advocacy: Take the reins in planning meaningful performances that bring the arts to the wider public.
