Camping! (local/overseas)
Nanyang Outdoors has 2 expeditions each year, taking place during the June and year end holidays. These camps allow members to immerse themselves in their natural surroundings as well as exhilarating outdoor activities. All the planning of activities, locations, logistics and role allocation are done by the students themselves, with guidance from seniors and teachers. This fosters a positive learning environment too where inter-batch learning is encouraged.
The June camp is an introductory level camp held in Singapore. During this camp, new members can learn more about the rest of the NYOD family, forming lasting bonds with them. Some areas we have camped at are Pulau Ubin, East Coast Park and Pasir Ris Park.
The year end camp is a thrilling expedition that usually lasts across 3 to 5 days. This camp alternates between Singapore and overseas(usually in Malaysia) every year. We have hiked up Mount Ophir and trekked in the lush tea fields of Cameron Highlands. We even visited a farm after our camp at Gunung Ledang where we had our campfire! Our camps allow us to apply our campcraft skills and connect with nature and one another. The night sky above our smoky campfires are always packed with glowing stars. Lulled to sleep on a delightful mountain breeze blowing through the tent, these are things we guarantee one will never forget.
