Under the expert direction of conductor Ms. Lim Ai Hooi since 1999, the Nanyang Girls’ High School Choir has consistently demonstrated musical excellence, earning numerous accolades. In the 2025 Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation, the choir was awarded a Certificate of Distinction, reaffirming its longstanding tradition of achieving top honors in the festival’s Central Judging.
Recognized as one of Singapore’s top choirs, the choir has earned prestigious awards in overseas competitions in Malaysia and the Czech Republic. In July 2008, it participated in the esteemed 5th World Choir Games in Graz, Austria, securing a Gold Award in the Youth Choir of Equal Voices category. In June 2011, it travelled to Linz, Austria, for the 3rd International Anton Bruckner Choir Competition, where it clinched a Gold Diploma (Level 6) and emerged as champions in its category. In July 2014, in collaboration with the Hwa Chong Institution Choir, the ensemble competed in the 8th World Choir Games in Riga, Latvia, earning a Gold Medal and placing fourth in the Youth Choir of Equal Voices Champion category.
Beyond competitions, the choir has captivated audiences through numerous well-received concerts, both within the school and on prestigious platforms. It was invited to perform at the Esplanade’s Limelight and In Youthful Company concert series in 2009, 2014, and 2024 and Singapore Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) 2025 Shall We Sing and at the Esplanade. In 2024, the choir was invited to perform at the China Shanghai International Arts Festival Arts for the Future, cementing its reputation on the global stage. Most recently, the choir was invited to participate in Huayi-Chinese Festival of Arts 2026.
