南韓首爾國立大學科學史與科學哲學系博士,現任漢陽大學哲學系及歷史系合聘副教授,研究領域涵蓋科技史、醫學史、環境史與東亞冷戰史,特別關注遺傳學、人口學與自然保護在韓國的發展及其跨國連結。他曾在柏林的馬克斯‧普朗克科學史研究所與東京理科大學從事博士後研究,並在Historical Studies in the Natural Sciences、British Journal for the History of Science、Korea Journal、East Asian Science, Technology and Society等國際期刊發表多篇論文,探討科學外交、口罩社會史、鳥類學與種族科學等議題。
Jaehwan Hyun received his PhD in History and Philosophy of Science from Seoul National University and is currently Associate Professor at the Department of Philosophy (jointly appointed: Department of History), Hanyang University. His research spans the history of science, medical history, environmental history, and Cold War history in East Asia. He is particularly interested in the development of genetics, demography, and nature conservation in Korea and their transnational connections. He has held postdoctoral positions at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin and Tokyo University of Science. His work has appeared in journals such as Historical Studies in the Natural Sciences, British Journal for the History of Science, Korea Journal, and East Asian Science, Technology and Society, addressing topics including scientific diplomacy, the social history of masks, ornithology, and racial science.
詹亞訓博士現任國立陽明交通大學社會文化研究所助理教授,研究領域涵蓋近現代東亞政治思想、帝國與殖民主義、社會問題以及社會運動。曾任日本學術振興會(JSPS)特別研究員、早稻田大學政治經濟學術院訪問學者…並持續參與國際學術會議與跨國研究合作。其研究成果可見於《帝國與文明II:世界秩序的多元想像(從西方到亞洲)》、 Journal of Northeast Asian History、《文化研究》及《相関社会科学》等中、英、日文期刊與論文集。
Ya-Hsun Chan is Assistant Professor at the Institute of Social Research and Cultural Studies, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. Her research focuses on modern and contemporary East Asian political thought, empire and colonialism, social problems, and social movements. She has previously served as a JSPS Postdoctoral Research Fellow and a visiting scholar at Waseda University, and continues to participate actively in international conferences and collaborative research projects. Her publications appear in edited volumes such as Empire and Civilization II: Plural Imaginaries of World Order (from the West to Asia), as well as journals including Journal of Social Sciences and Philosophy, Journal of Northeast Asian History, Router: A Journal of Cultural Studies.

Sayaka Chatani received her PhD in History, International History, and Global History from Columbia University. She is currently Associate Professor in the Department of History at the National University of Singapore. Her research focuses on the Japanese Empire, colonial history, global history, and diasporic communities in Cold War East Asia. Her book Nation-Empire: Ideology and Rural Youth Mobilization in Japan and Its Colonies (Cornell University Press, 2018) has received significant international attention. Her recent work examines the Zainichi Korean community in Japan, particularly the experiences of Chongryon and women. She has published in leading journals such as American Historical Review, Journal of Asian Studies, and Critical Asian Studies.

Helena F. S. Lopes is Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Modern Asian History at Cardiff University in Wales, United Kingdom. She previously held a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship at the University of Bristol and lectureships at the universities of Oxford and Bristol. In the summer of 2024, she was a research fellow at the Center for Chinese Studies of the National Central Library in Taipei. Dr Lopes holds a PhD in History from the University of Oxford (2018), where she was supervised by Professor Rana Mitter, and two MA degrees from SOAS, University of London. She is the author of Neutrality and Collaboration in South China: Macau during the Second World War (Cambridge University Press, 2023). Her articles have appeared in edited books and journals such as The Historical Journal, Twentieth-Century China, and Cold War History.

Shu-Fen Lin holds a PhD in Government from the University of Essex and is Professor at the Institute of Social Research and Cultural Studies, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. Her research areas include contemporary political theory, democratization and social movements, Cold War studies, and border and migration studies. In recent years, her work has focused on Vietnamese refugees and geopolitics in East Asia. She has published in both Chinese- and English-language venues. Her edited and co-edited volumes (in Chinese) include Borders, Sovereignty, and Law (2020); Frontiers on the Move: Revisiting Inter-Asian Connections in the Cold War (with Iam-chong Ip and Ziqiao Yang, 2024); Vượt Biển: The Oral Life History of Refugee Priest Nguyễn Văn Hùng (2024); and Born Across Borders: Mobility and Connections in Cold War Asia (with Wen-Chin Chang, 2025).

Wesley Attewell holds a PhD in Human Geography from the University of British Columbia and is currently Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Hong Kong. His research intersects political geography, American studies, and Asian diaspora studies, focusing on U.S. military, developmental, and capitalist interventions in Asia, the Pacific, and the Middle East since the Cold War. His book The Quiet Violence of Empire: How USAID Waged Counterinsurgency in Afghanistan (University of Minnesota Press, 2023) has been widely recognized. His recent work explores empire and decolonization in the Pacific, particularly the logistical infrastructures and racialized labor regimes developed during the Vietnam War. His research has appeared in Annals of the American Association of Geographers, Progress in Human Geography, and American Quarterly.

Hidefumi NISHIYAMA
Hidefumi Nishiyama holds a PhD in Politics and International Studies from the University of Warwick and is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Geography Research Unit (GRU), University of Oulu, Finland. His research examines the social and political impacts of militarization on Indigenous peoples, island spaces, and border landscapes. His work spans political geography, postcolonial and decolonial studies, border studies, island studies, and security studies. His recent projects explore the geopolitics of Okinawa and landscape transformations associated with war and border reconfiguration. His publications appear in journals such as Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers, Critical Asian Studies, Geopolitics, and Environment and Planning C: Politics and Space.

Yenbo Kuo is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Social Research and Cultural Studies, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. His research focuses on postwar Taiwanese history, Cold War studies, and overseas base studies. He examines the social, cultural, and geopolitical effects associated with the U.S. military presence in Taiwan. His MA thesis, In Search of Bar Girls: A Preliminary History of the U.S. Military, the Cold War, and Sex Tourism, received awards from the Cultural Studies Association and the Taiwan Social Research Association. His recent work focuses on the legal status of U.S. military personnel and its broader social implications, with publications in Frontiers and Mobility (2024), Taiwan: A Radical Quarterly in Social Studies, Journal of Geographical Science, and Bulletin of Academia Historica.
日本京都大學農學博士,現為北海道經濟大學經濟研究院副教授。中山大将擁有農學及文學兩個博士學位,以及15年以上的樺太・薩哈林區域的農業史及邊境研究經歷,並曾經獲得兩個研究獎項「地域研究コンソーシアム登竜賞」及「日本農業史学会賞」。中山教授於近5年有3部共著專書、13篇學術論文出版,同時執行邊界區域研究之資料目錄電子化計畫。其研究以樺太・薩哈林區域為核心案例,橫斷帝國殖民時期至新冷戰的農林制度、邊境重構與區域治理,是東亞邊境研究領域有重要貢獻的學者。
Taisho Nakayama holds a PhD in Agriculture from Kyoto University, Japan, and is currently Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Hokkaido University. He also holds a second doctoral degree in Literature and has over fifteen years of research experience in the agricultural history and border studies of the Karafuto–Sakhalin region. He has received multiple academic awards, including the Regional Studies Consortium Emerging Scholar Award and the Agricultural History Society of Japan Award. Over the past five years, he has published three co-authored books and thirteen academic articles, while also leading a project on the digitization of archival catalogues for borderland studies. His research centers on the Karafuto–Sakhalin region, examining transformations in agro-forestry systems, border reconfiguration, and regional governance from the imperial colonial period to the emerging “New Cold War.” He is a leading scholar in East Asian border studies.

Hsiu-hua Shen holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Kansas and is Associate Professor at the Institute of Sociology, National Tsing Hua University, where she also serves as Director of the Center for Contemporary China. Her research interests include gender studies, migration and intimacy, transnational families, Taiwanese in China, gender and family in China, and border studies (including Kinmen as a case). She is also engaged in oral history and advocacy work on the February 28 Incident, women political victims, state violence, and transitional justice. Her publications include Women and the February 28 Incident: Stories of Political Widows and the edited volume Asian Migrations: Sojourning, Displacement, Homecoming & Other Travels (with Beatriz P. Lorente, Nicola Piper, and Brenda S. A. Yeoh). Her work appears in Global Networks, Citizenship Studies, and Asian Studies Review.

Shu-mei Huang holds a PhD from the College of Built Environments, University of Washington and is Professor at the Graduate Institute of Building and Planning, National Taiwan University. Her research focuses on critical heritage studies, postcolonial heritage preservation, and memory studies. She examines how colonial legacies, infrastructural politics, and spatial governance shape local societies, with particular attention to Indigenous agricultural development and community experiences in post-disaster reconstruction in Taiwan. She has co-edited volumes including Community Responses to Disasters in the Pacific Rim (Routledge, 2023) and Frontiers of Memory in the Asia-Pacific (Hong Kong University Press, 2022). Her work has appeared in Journal of Rural Studies, International Journal of Heritage Studies, and Environment and Planning A: Economy and Space. She received the NSTC Ta-You Wu Memorial Award in 2021.

Nelson Ka Kiu Lee holds a PhD in Political Science from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and is Lecturer in the School of Governance and Policy Science at the same institution. His research focuses on political geography and urban politics. His work has appeared in leading journals such as Political Geography and International Journal of Urban and Regional Research, and he has published extensively on public space, urban life in Hong Kong, and water politics. He has led and participated in major research projects, including Hong Kong’s General Research Fund (GRF) and commissioned studies for the Central Policy Unit of the Hong Kong SAR Government. He has also received the Outstanding Teaching Award at CUHK.
