We ask that people joining us in the space for co:work:play agree to the following:
Be kind and respectful to yourself and others.
Clean up after yourself.
Respect the space and shared resources;
do your best to leave things the way you found them.
Respect agreements made by the community.*
*Everyone is invited to help co-create these; start the process by putting a note on the agreements board under "awareness"
Sorry, no. We are not set up to handle childcare at co:work:play. We are happy to help you connect with a local babysitter, though!
Come on in and introduce yourself. You are welcome to post a flyer on our "local resources" board.
Yes! If you plan to use the space a lot, or just want to know you will always have access when we are open, we can create an unlimited use package that fits your family. Email agilespace@nycagile.org and we will be in touch.
Do you have areas in the space for adults to take private, quiet meetings?
Yes and no. There are a couple of spaces that could likely serve that purpose for you, but this is a dynamic, active environment with people of all ages. If you have an engagement that requires silence and privacy, best not to plan on doing it here. That said, email us ahead of time and we can do our best to keep a quiet space available for you.
Can I bring my own food into the space?
Yes! All we ask is that you only eat in “food allowed” areas (there are many) and that you clean up after yourself. There is a fridge, microwave, toaster oven and tea kettle you can use while you’re here.
Yes! Please put your name on any food you put into the fridge so it isn’t mistaken for community food. (We also have a microwave, tea kettle and toaster oven you are free to use while you’re here.)
Do you sell food or drinks?
No, but there’s a deli (or 3) just around the corner. Co:work:play guests are welcome to bring their own food, purchase food locally to eat here, or order delivery directly to the space.
Can I wear my shoes in space?
No. In an effort to keep our space clean, we are a street-shoes-free space. Some people choose to bring their own “house shoes” or use a pair of our shoe-covers. That’s up to you.
I don’t want my kid on a screen. What kinds of things are there for my kid to do while I work?
There’s a lot to explore here. Our play room has a ball pit, large whiteboard for drawing on, a piano and a giant beanbag. Our makerspace has crafts and odds and ends to play/create things with, paper and markers and a little-kid-focused corner for legos, stamping and coloring. We also have a room with a selection of board games and puzzles. And we have a LOT of books.
I’d like my kid to have access to a computer. Can they use one at the Agile Space?
Yes. Kids and adults are free to use their own devices in the space (we have wi-fi) or rent one of our computer workstations for a flat $10 fee for the day. Over-ear headphones are available to borrow.
Do you supply the materials I might need for my maker project?
We have many shared resources that might be helpful to you in your project, but cannot guarantee any particular material will be on hand. For example, if you are doing a sewing project and want to use our sewing machine, you're welcome to! We have tons of scrap fabric you can pick through, too, but you'll probably want to bring your own reliable fabric scissors and thread in the colors you need.
Is my kid allowed to use a hand saw?
That’s between you and your kid! We do have some saws that are up high on the wall. The adult responsible for each child in the space is trusted to make those decisions and to supervise their kids.
Are there projects my child can do?
We know open-ended-tinkering isn’t every kid’s favorite flavor. In July, we will begin selling art and project kits.
