The year 1950 witnessed the dawning of the College of Business Education (COBE). Its first course offering was Bachelor of Science in Commerce (BSC) majors in Accounting and Banking and Finance with the one year secretarial course leading to Certificate of Secretarial Science (CSS) which was granted government recognition in 1959.
The one year secretarial course became a two-year Junior Secretarial Course (JSC) in 1982 where both Secretarial courses were replaced in 1989 by a two year Computer Secretarial course and got official recognition a year after.
In the 90s, remarkable events took place where the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) was recognized as a separate program from the BSC Curriculum; the BSC program was granted Level I status on March 15, 1990 and, was granted Level II status by the PACUCOA on September 21 of the following year. Renamed as Bachelor of Science in Office Administration in the four-year course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Secretarial Administration, was granted government recognition in 1995 together with the Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management and Bachelor of Science in Tourism.
The BSHRM program was granted Level II Accreditation status by the PACUCOA in November 8, 2004 and started to offer Cruise Management as a major field the following year, and likewise, to BSHRM-Ladderized Education Programs in 2007. In the same year, the BSC program changed its nomenclature to BSBA which paved the way to the offer of new sets of major fields in Human Resource Development Management, Marketing Management, Financial Management, in addition to Entrepreneurship and Management Accounting
The Master in Business Administration (MBA) program which is now vertically aligned under the college is growing in terms of enrolment and is now granted Level III accreditation status by the PACUCOA (2016), together with the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration earlier in 2014. Building on these achievements, the College of Business Education further strengthened its academic programs and institutional practices, culminating in the granting of Level IV Accreditation status by PACUCOA in 2023. This recognition affirms the College's sustained efforts in academic excellence, continuous improvement, quality instruction, and effective delivery of business education programs.
