Thank you for agreeing to teach at the Radiology Academy and for your ongoing support for the Educational Program. Here I have put together some information to help you with your session, however don't hesitate to get in touch with either Sam Truesdale or myself if there is anything else you need to know.
After a suspension of over 4 months due to Covid-19 the Radiology Academy in the Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre (CSSC) will re open on the 5th of August. The staff at the University and the Skills Centre have worked hard to make this happen and to ensure the environment is safe. This is great news and allows us to welcome the new intake of first year radiology trainees at the start of their Academy rotation. For the foreseeable future the use of the Radiology Academy will be limited to the 11 Academy Trainees and 1 tutor at any one time in order to comply with social distancing. Teaching for the entire year group including the Anatomy and Physics programs will be delivered online for the foreseeable future. Currently we do not have access to the US facility. Everyone using the Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre, where the Academy is located, will be required to follow the social distancing rules of the centre and it is important we keep their confidence. Please read the guidance which can be found through the link below.

It is very much up to you how you run the session. However from previous feedback the sessions that received the most positive comments use a combination of formal lecture presentation, case review combined with suggested reading material and assessments.
Suggested Reading material. Please send any material you would like the trainees to review prior to the sessions to Sam Truesdale and she will upload.
Lectures. If you are happy for this to be shared with trainees please forward to Sam for upload.
Images for review. Instructions regarding download of DICOM images is provided in the section on Teaching Facilities. Bring DICOM images on either a memory stick or hard drive. We do not have a CD reader.
Gsuite. Assessments and Classroom. If you are interested in developing assessments or additional material and would like more information on how to use google forms or the online classroom facility contact me and I will help.
Virtual Academy. We are currently developing an online program through the Gsuite platform. This is primarily to support the ST2 trainees who didn't attend the Academy through Covid-19. However it is also to future proof the Academy Program in case of further disruption to training. Get in touch if you are interested in being involved in this.
It is the responsibility of the tutor to ensure all images used for teaching and downloaded to the IMACs are fully anonymised and contain NO patient identifiable data. At the end of your session please delete all your radiology cases from the Tutor iMAC by moving the files into and empty the 'Bin'. You can leave your presentation on the desktop or Tutor Folder.
Images are removed from all the iMACs on a monthly basis.
If you would like to contribute to an image database we are currently developing please get in touch.
