New classrooms are near completion. We will be using these classrooms for six HS classrooms that need a temporary location due to construction.
The new MS office will not be ready until Summer.
MS Restrooms will be rerouted to the new building when current bathrooms close for renovation in late April/early May.
We do anticipate all spaces being opened before the start of next school year. We do plan on having an open house/orientation time to see the changes. (Pending)

Dear Parents and Students,
As we approach Spring Break, I want to take a moment to wish you all a restful and enjoyable time with your families. I hope you make the most of this time off, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for the second half of the spring semester.
As we head into the next few weeks, I want to remind you of some important upcoming testing dates. Your child’s attendance on these days is critical for their success and for the overall success of our school. Please take note of the following:
April 15-16: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM – I-Learn L.A.
April 22-23: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM – I-Learn Math
It is essential that students arrive on time and are present for the full testing period. Please ensure that your child is well-rested, prepared, and present for these important days.
As we look ahead to the end of the school year, I want to take a moment to express how incredibly proud I am of all that we have accomplished together. Below is comparison data I shared at the last school board meeting. The data from our school reflects the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, staff, and families. We continue to grow as a leader in education, and this success is only possible because of the strong partnerships and collaborative efforts from all of our stakeholders. Thank you for your continued support as we strive for excellence every day.
Wishing you a wonderful Spring Break and looking forward to the exciting progress we will make in the coming weeks!
Warm regards,
James Bishir

Message from Assistant Principal Mr. Ward:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well! I am writing to share some important information about our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program and the vital role it plays in creating a positive and supportive school environment for our students.
At N.M.S., we believe that fostering a climate of respect, responsibility, and encouragement is essential for every student’s success. PBIS is an evidence-based approach that focuses on reinforcing positive behaviors, which ultimately helps to create a safe and productive learning environment. We prioritize a positive to negative ratio of at least 4:1 — meaning that we strive to offer our students four positive reinforcements for every corrective action taken. This approach allows us to guide our students in a way that supports their emotional, social, and academic growth while ensuring that they feel recognized and valued for their good behavior.
As part of this initiative, our students earn a Tiger Stripe card for demonstrating key traits that are foundational to our school culture. These traits—Service, Thoughtfulness, Respect, Integrity, Positivity, and Excellence—were chosen by all of our stakeholders, including parents, students, and teachers, when we first implemented the PBIS program five years ago. The Tiger Stripe represents these core values, and we are proud to see our students consistently exemplifying them in their daily actions.
We believe that these values not only help our students grow as individuals, but also set a standard of excellence in our school community. Whether in the classroom, on the athletic fields, or in the hallways, students who show Service, Thoughtfulness, Respect, Integrity, Positivity, and Excellence are acknowledged and celebrated for their efforts. This positive reinforcement empowers our students to continue developing these essential skills, which will serve them both academically and in their future endeavors.
The support we receive from you, our parents, is key to the success of this program. We encourage you to talk to your child about the importance of these traits and the positive behaviors they can exhibit each day. Together, we can continue to build a school culture that supports our students' growth and success in all areas.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support as we work together to help our students thrive.
Warm regards,
Ryan Ward

Please feel free to reach out anytime with questions or concerns involving your child. I can be reached at ryan.ward@nwsc.k12.in.us or my ext.3104.
Students can either scan the front of their Tiger Stripe or choose a button on their iPad to 'register' their award.
Prizes are given out by random, but top receipients in each category also receive end of the year awards/medals.
The staff member selects the positive trait(s) and tells the student why they earned a Tiger Stripe
When a student records their Tiger Stripe they are asked to share why the attribute they were recognized for is important. Here are some of their responses: These are direct quotes:
To be good to each other don’t judge a book by its cover
To make us better adults
To make us better humans
It shows that someone cares.
If our school thrives for excellence so will the rest of our community.
Excellence is important for myself and the community because we need to all work to be great and to work hard. If we all work on being excellence, we can accomplish a lot more, and we can work to make the world better,
It is important for these to be a kind person in school
Service it’s important because it helps others out, and makes me feel helpful.
Respectfulness is important so that even if we lose in a game, people are still cheering for everyone.
Do the right thing even if you might be the only one doing it.
Because my Mom likes when I act this way.
