Thank you for your support!
The Brickyard Nursing Home was overwhelmed with the amount of support from you for our Senior Angel Tree.
Principal's Note:
The anticipated school construction has started! I'd like to thank you in advance for being patient as we continue into the process. Door #9 is now the official entrance to the Middle School. We have installed an electronic buzzer and camera at the door in case you need to visit during the school day. Another of the early major challenges at N.M.S. will start this April with the anticipated renovation of our Cafeteria. (rendering below) During this time our dining room will be moved to the N.M.S. Gym. The end result of this construction process will be an improvement of our facilities for many years to come and the inclusion of sixth grade.
February and March are important academic months for N.M.S. as we make our last push for teaching Indiana standards before we take iLEARN in April. We ask for your cooperation in making sure students have good attendance during this time of the year and please try to schedule any family trips outside of this window.
Mr. Bishir
Message from Assistant Principal Mr. Ward:
8th Grade Parents,
This month the high school counselors will begin the scheduling process with 8th grade students. We will start with a meeting with the entire grade level during the school day on February 14, followed by an elective fair the following day. Students will have an opportunity to learn about the elective options they have at the high school, meet the teachers of those classes, and speak with student representatives. The evening of February 15 we will host an 8th grade parent night in the cafeteria. This will be a chance for parents to learn about graduation requirements, diploma types, and how to help their child select the right classes for 9th grade. Beginning the week of February 20, counselors will meet individually with 8th grade students to select their classes. Parents are welcome, but not required, to attend these meetings. Your student will bring home a list of the classes they selected with their counselor, and changes can be made until March 22.

We appreciate your support and understanding.

Someone once said I'm a social butterfly, but I'm a dog.
Students: Social Cues are important. Knowing and understanding social norms can help in a dog eat dog world.
Encourage eye contact when speaking with others. For many it's a show of respect. However, don't get upset if someone isn't making eye contact. Someone not making eye contact may not be comfortable in the situation.
Give full attention: If you're texting or checking your phone while someone is trying to have a conversation with you they may feel like you're neglecting their thoughts/opinions.
Facial Expressions are important: You may not always know it, but your facial expression can be just as important at communicating how you feel.
Different Situations have Different Expectations: They way you speak to your friends in the gym or at lunch is not the same as you should speak with an Adult. "What's up Bruh" may be great with your friends, but most adults won't appreciate it.
Say Sorry: Everyone messes up sometimes. There is nothing wrong with saying "sorry", or "I didn't mean what I said to be taken that way." Also, if you're willing to ask forgiveness you must be willing to forgive.
