“When athletes want to grow or sharpen a skill, they hire a coach. Why should it be any different in the education field? “-Olive May
An instructional coach works with teachers to improve the quality of their lessons and the quality of students' education. They serve as mentors and role models, helping teachers stay fresh and use the latest strategies and technology in their classrooms.
As an instructional coach, my philosophy is that it's not about how good you are now but how good you're going to be. I want to expand a teacher's use of resources to improve instruction and to help increase the quality and effectiveness of classroom instruction.
Anyone good that strives to become great uses a coach. And if you're great already, a coach will help you become greater. Even LeBron James has a coach.
5-Step Coaching Model (Dynamic Learning Project)
I come equipped with a plethora of tech-based tools for you and your students. For almost anything you'd like to do or teach there are numerous tools that, once mastered, will make your job easier and engage your students on a higher level.
I can assist with the tech-based tools you are already using and help you maximize their value. With most of the educational technology we use today, we aren't even close to using it to its max potential. Having an instructional coach work with you can help to unlock everything that what you're already using can do.
I believe ALL content areas are important and contribute to the success of the student. I have been an educator for most of my adult life and fully understand the challenges of today's classroom and how hard teachers are working, doing more with less. I will go to bat for you.
I am here to work WITH you. Together we can develop great strategies and tools for your instructional goals. I'm YOUR coach.

I am a 26-year veteran of education. I am a Level 2 Google Certified Educator & Trainer with additional training and educator certifications in Vex Robotics, Pear Assessment, MagicSchool AI, and Canva. I am a licensed teacher with the State of Ohio. I was the Vocal Music/Choir Director at Tinora (1999-2006) and Defiance (2006-2022) High Schools. At both schools the choirs performed regularly around the community and throughout the state and had a record of achieving District and State Superior ratings at performance contests.
In addition to conducting choirs, I created and taught classes in pop music history, classical music history, music theory, and musical theater history & performance. In all of those classes, choirs included, I utilized a variety of technology-based tools to better help me facilitate instruction and to aide the students in receiving, practicing and mastering the concepts and skills I needed them to learn.
In 2018, I was given the assignment to develop a video production class at Defiance High School. Using the tools at hand, creativity, and with the help of some incredible students we turned a class into a video production department that was responsible for producing a regular news program, the Defiance News Network (DNN). This program was recognized throughout NW Ohio and was even a featured story on 13Abc News in Toledo.
I have served at the District and State level in professional organizations. This has included as Editor of the Ohio Music Education Association's professional journal, TRIAD and as the state IT Coordinator for the Ohio Choral Directors Association where I maintain the state website, facilitate state conference registrations and tech needs and maintain the state communication database.
I graduated in 1999 from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelors degree in Music Education. I am a trained pianist and regularly participate in music activities at my church and in occasional musical and theatrical productions around Defiance.
I am also an OHSAA and USA Softball licensed umpire and can be seen regularly officiating high school and rec league softball around northwest Ohio. I ennjoy vacations with my family that involve beautiful scenery and a minimal amount of people.
I have been married to Jessica since 2006 and live in Defiance with our two children, Bailey and Conner.
