Above and Beyond: How to Encourage Cheerful Generosity.” Led by Gregg Prickett and Kevin Hoppock
"Above and Beyond: How to Encourage Cheerful Generosity.” This session will feature two special guests who are experts in Faith Promise Missionary Giving. Gregg Prickett is the Missions Pastor at Rose Drive Friends Church in Southern California. He is also the former chair of the Evangelical Friends Mission (EFM) Board and a Judge in Orange County. Kevin Hoppock is a leader of the missions emphasis at Northridge Friends Church in Kansas, Chair of the EFM Advancement Committee, and he also serves as a medical doctor. Although there will be transferable concepts for every church that wants to encourage generous giving in general, the special emphasis during this session will be on giving outside of ourselves to the work of the Lord beyond local borders. All pastors, missions committees, finance and stewardship boards, and elders will be interested, especially as we look ahead to launching new Luke 10 mission fields through EFM. Watch Workshop 2
“Any Church Can Do it: Starting a New Church No Matter Your Size or Budget” – Led by Randy Littlefield
“Any Church Can Do it: Starting a New Church No Matter Your Size or Budget” – Led by Randy Littlefield. Many people believe that evangelism, fulfilling the Great Commission, and planting new churches is important. But practically speaking, it seems that it is only for big or wealthy congregations. Certainly, we live in the midst of a very needy and ripe “harvest field” in the Northwest, and we need many new churches to help us reach all of the people for Jesus in the communities around us. But how can a small church with limited resources make a difference? In this relevant workshop, you will learn proven strategies and helpful ideas for planting churches individually and cooperatively with others regardless of your size. Randy Littlefield has planted and pastored Friends churches in Eastern Region and Mid America and is the Director of Multiplication Catalyst Ministries. He has served as the Church Planting Director for EFC-Mid-America Yearly Meeting and as the Start Churches Director for Evangelical Free Church of America, planting new churches in Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Missouri.

Friends from 26 countries and 26 states attended the multiplication conference last November, but more people participated from NWYM than from any other Yearly Meeting in the world! This workshop will be the first time since last fall for our attenders to process, reflect, and share together what they have been learning and what God may be saying to us. We encourage all conference participants from NWYM to join this workshop. In addition, this workshop is for anyone who was not able to attend the conference, but who would like to hear more about it and consider together what the next steps may look like for NWYM and your local church. Come find out what the excitement is all about!
“Church Revitalization: God’s Not Done Yet” – Led by Robert Hays
“Church Revitalization: God’s Not Done Yet” – Led by Robert Hays. Sooner or later, every church experiences times when the “good old days” feel like sometime other than today! But if Jesus is still building His Church, and if there is still a need for Christ-centered, Bible-believing Christians in your community, how can the “best days” of your church still lie ahead of you? This workshop explores the important foundational concepts involved in helping a church that is either plateaued or in decline to experience a “turn-around” (and healthy, growing churches will find confirming and new ideas to sharpen their forward focus). You will be encouraged that “God’s not done yet” with you or your church! Robert is the pastor at Rose Valley Friends Church in Kelso, Washington.

“Game Plan: Developing Intentional Missional Ministry” – Led by Dr. Tim Roehl. Whether you are leading a local church to reach new people in your neighborhood for Jesus or blazing a trail to launch a new ministry, you first need to know where you are headed (and how you will get there). An intentional missional game plan has some universal principles that will help you to discern and develop a unique strategy that fits your mission field, you, and your team. In this practical seminar, you will discover the keys to develop a missional map and a pathway to accomplish your ministry and outreach objectives. Tim is the President and “Itinerant Multiplier” of Fit and Flourish ministries and an adjunct professor at Barclay College. With his wife Shirley, Tim has over 37 years of ministry experience, including urban restart pastor, suburban church planter, denominational leader, missionary, author, coach and trainer with leaders from over 75 nations and 75 organizations. “Growing Young - Revisited: Next Steps When The Journey Seems Hard” – Led by Brockie Follette
“Growing Young - Revisited: Next Steps When The Journey Seems Hard” – Led by Brockie Follette. Every caring church in America would like to effectively reach all of the people in their communities for Jesus – including youth and young adults. However, the statistics suggest that many churches are shrinking while also growing older! How can you reverse that trend? How can you effectively reach out to youth and young adults, and then keep them meaningfully engaged as a part of your congregation? This workshop is a “follow-up” session to the highly popular “Growing Young” emphasis in NWYM one year ago. If your church read the Growing Young book (or tried to put some steps into practice), but have found the changes to be slow or non-existent, then this workshop is especially for you! You will gain practical “next step” encouragement to keep heading in the right direction! Brockie is the Chaplain at Barclay College in Haviland, Kansas, and the Director of Kaleo Academy.

“Helping a Church to Change: Moving Forward Together Toward a Preferred Future” – Led by Randy Myers
“Helping a Church to Change: Moving Forward Together Toward a Preferred Future” – Led by Randy Myers. The Covid-19 crisis has jarred all of our churches to make some sudden, dramatic adjustments. But the reality is, change is inevitable in every church and in every organization all the time. The question is: are the changes the ones that you hoped would happen? How can you make plans for strategic (not accidental) change that helps you accomplish your mission? How can leaders communicate a God-given vision to the congregation and help the church grow in healthy, God-honoring ways? How can change occur in a fashion that is collaborative and unifying, so that the congregation moves forward together? These and other questions will be addressed in this relevant workshop. Randy is the Superintendent of the Pacific Conference of the Evangelical Church. A former pastor in Bend, Oregon, he understands the challenges of change first-hand, helping his church to grow from around 20 people to over 1,000 in weekly attendance.

“Loving Our Neighbors: Prejudice, Racism, and Caring For People Who Are Not Like Us” – Led by Roy Lujan, with Angel Diaz, Marcus Collick, and Joy Lujan. We all know that Jesus commanded us to “love our neighbors as we love ourselves.” But as recent protests, racial violence, and social unrest remind us, there are many people in our world today who remain wounded, offended, and hurting, and who have not experienced that love yet. How are we to respond as Christians to the persistent prejudices in our society, to racial tensions, and even to relational and systemic wounds that have not yet healed (whether we inflicted the pain or not)? What if there are splinters (or logs) in our own eyes that need to be removed, to see and respond more effectively for Christ? Although the Friends Church has done perhaps better than most historically at caring for the poor or marginalized, freeing slaves, and empowering women, we dare not become complacent at following Jesus and caring for others. In this timely workshop, several people groups receiving historic societal bias will be addressed, including: women, immigrants, and African Americans. Roy is the Clerk of the Board of Local Outreach for NWYM, his wife Joy is the pastor at Whitney Friends Church in Boise, Angel is the pastor of Iglesia Amigos en Newberg, Oregon, and Marcus is a recent graduate of the Master’s program at Barclay College in Haviland, Kansas.
“Making A Difference: On Callings to Serve and Leadership Development” – Led by Dr. Paul Anderson and Dr. Melissa Kelley
“Making A Difference: On Callings to Serve and Leadership Development” – Led by Dr. Paul Anderson and Dr. Melissa Kelley. Everyone wants to be significant. Every Christian should want to respond to the call of Christ. The calling of every Christian is actually threefold: first, to be a follower of Jesus Christ; second, to further His work and way with our lives; third, to develop Christian leaders who will further the work of the Kingdom into the future. This workshop will help people explore each of these callings personally, focusing primarily on the third: becoming a discipler of emerging Christian leaders. That will involve deepening one's personal spiritual life, discerning whom one might encourage, and developing a meaningful approach to discipling others in the multiplication of Christian ministry and service locally and globally. Paul is a professor at George Fox University, a member of the NWYM Leadership Development Board, and a respected author, speaker, and trainer of leaders. Melissa also serves on the NWYM Leadership Development Board and is an active leader at Rosedale Friends Church in Salem, Oregon.

“Tools and Tips for Using Technology to Communicate Well and Reach New People” - Led by Jacob and Leah Newton and Dr. Melissa Kelley. Even before the pandemic, technology had become a part of our everyday lives, from smart phones and laptops, to emails, websites, Facebook, and other social media platforms. Communication and information tools impact each of our institutions and organizations, including our churches. The question is, are we using the right tools and are we using them effectively? What are the basic tips we need to know to make sure we are not left behind? We know that our message and mission to reach people for Jesus must never change, but our methods must always adapt in order to connect well with others. In this intensely practical seminar, a team of practitioners will share some of the easiest and best steps that any church can take to grow in this important area! Jacob and Leah serve at Meridian Friends Church in Meridian, Idaho, and Melissa is an active leader at Rosedale Friends Church in Salem, Oregon.
