The Dalles Cross Country program was founded back in the 1960s by track coach Al Miller, and led for over 50 years by Bob Thouvenel. All current coaching staff are former TD runners, and seek to instill a lifelong enjoyment of running and pursuit of excellence in all areas of life.

TDHS is currently part of the Intermountain Conference for 5A Oregon athletics, along with Crook County, Pendleton, Redmond, Ridgeview, and Hood River. They practice at Sorosis Park- one of the hilliest courses in the northwest. Last year, both men's and women's team made it to State- and are looking forward to another strong season this year.
