Hailey Cisneros was born and raised in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada. She is a recent graduate from College of Southern Nevada and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Studies: ASL/ English Interpreting. She has been involved with NVRID in various capacities for the past 4 years and has loved volunteering her time to this community and serving with colleagues.
Hailey loves learning, solving problems, and being a team player-- all of which she is lucky to be able to do in this profession and with this organization! Not only does she hold the board position of Treasurer, but she also chairs the Professional Development Committee. In her free time, Hailey enjoys walking her rambunctious fur baby, Kbootz, and trying different kinds of restaurants in town. She loves to travel and explore places she hasn't been before with her partner, Tony.
I’m honored to be Vice President of NVRID. I have been a nationally credentialed professional interpreter since 1999, and I currently teach in the Deaf Studies department at Nevada State University. I have worked in many different settings, but my focus has always remained the same: the work of interpreting is about trust, accountability, and the Deaf communities impacted by our work I care deeply about Deaf-centered practices, ethical growth, and mentorship. Nevada has a unique interpreting landscape, where Deaf interpreters and hearing interpreters who are nationally certified, state certified and provisional often work alongside one another. I believe NVRID can help create opportunities for shared growth while continuing to earn, protect, and renew trust with our Deaf communities through the way we show up in every interaction.
Dejah (Day) Burchfield is an Ohio native who resides in Las Vegas, Nevada. She is a recent graduate of College of Southern Nevada and earned her Bachelor's Degree in American Sign Language/English Interpreting. She has been volunteering with NVRID and other organizations for most of her life. Dejah loves being creative, meeting new people, and learning new skills along with using all of those to better her environment(s). As a firm believer in, “Access is not a privilege, it is a right.” She promises to use her privilege in the uplift-ment of others and to always provide access. In her free time you’ll find her out-and-about hiking, exploring new-found places; or crocheting at home cuddling with their fur-babies Tearney and Zamora.
My name is Alexis Griffith, and I am honored to be Treasurer for NVRID. For the past 11 years, I have had the privilege of learning, growing, and developing a deep appreciation for the Deaf and hard of hearing community. As the parent of a Deaf child, my connection to this community extends far beyond my professional life—it is woven into my daily experiences and has shaped my passion for advocacy, accessibility, and service.
I hold an Associate's Degree in Deaf Studies and a Bachelor's Degree in ASL-English Interpreting. Throughout my journey, I have remained committed to supporting and strengthening the relationships between interpreters, Deaf individuals, and the broader community.
My previous service on the NVRID board as Member-at-Large South provided valuable experience and reinforced my dedication to the organization's mission. I have witnessed firsthand the impact our board can have in fostering professional growth, community engagement, and meaningful connections throughout Nevada.
My love and passion for this community are the driving forces behind my desire to continue serving on this incredible board. As Treasurer, I would bring dedication, accountability, and a commitment to supporting NVRID's financial health while helping advance our shared goals.

Hi! My name is Sam Orellana, and I'm a recent graduate from the College of Southern Nevada Interpreter Preparation Program. During my time at CSN, I served as both President and Vice President of the ASL Club. My experience serving in these positions really helped me understand the importance of community and working in service of it. I was able to make a difference among the Deaf Studies students and make connections with multiple organizations throughout Las Vegas. I would be honored to serve as NVRID's Member-at-Large South, to help support both the Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing and Interpreter communities of Nevada!
