Mrs. Connie Alcoser is a Kindergarten Teacher at Haworth Public School. She received her Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education K-8 from Montclair State University. She has also received a Masters in International Education from New York University and a Masters in Reading and Literacy from Marygrove College. Mrs. Alcoser has taught both kindergarten and first grade throughout her 10 years at Haworth Public School. She has also served on the Northern Valley Regional Professional Development Board and as a teacher peer coach for the district as well. Born into a family of educators, Jennifer Annese was initially discouraged to pursue a career in teaching, but fate had a different plan. As of January 1, 2017, Jennifer Annese will hold a Masters degree in Reading with a NJ certificate as a Literacy Specialist. She has been working in classrooms since 2003. She began her educational career as a paraprofessional for the PIE (Preschool Instruction for the Exceptional) and Valley Program while obtaining her Post-Baccalaureate degree in both General and Special Education. Her experiences range from teaching grades Pre-K through 8th in various academic settings. Additionally, she holds Orton-Gillingham Teacher Certification through Fairleigh Dickinson University as a scholarship participant. Shifting her focus from equalizing perceptions about special and general education, Jennifer is now pursuing creating professional learning experiences for colleagues that focus on 21st century social and emotional issues, such as gender and sexual identity. Since the passing of HIB, students with disabilities have received positive support and protection from educators, yet individuals struggling with their gender and sexuality may find it difficult to find acceptance within educational environments. It is understandable that teachers feel uncomfortable and unprepared to discuss such topics through curricular study. Her goal is to create inclusive practices through literature that not only supports the teachers, but the students as well. Currently, Jennifer Annese is a special education teacher at Tenakill Middle School in Closter, NJ.

Mrs. Jodi Ben-Meir is a Special Education Teacher at Northern Valley Regional HS –Old Tappan. Adam and Steve Maietta are both Technology and Engineering Teachers at Demarest and Old Tappan, respectively. Throughout their combined tenure in Northern Valley they have brought new and innovative project and utilized new tools and practices. Courtney Carmichael has over fifteen years in education. With prior classroom experience in both social studies and educational technology, she has presented at conferences at the state, national, and international levels. She is an adjunct professor at Kean University. Mrs. Carmichael has a bachelors in journalism and advertising, art, and political science from Northeastern University, a masters in social studies education from Rutgers University, and an educational specialist degree in education leadership, management and policy from Seton Hall University. ~She is currently working on her doctorate. Mrs. Janine Foschino is a Special Education Teacher at Northern Valley Regional HS – Demarest. She attended undergraduate at West Chester University where she received her Bachelors of Science degree in Special Education. After starting her career teaching a self-contained class at New Milford High School, she came to Northern Valley in September of 1999. She has taught replacement level courses in both English and Mathematics and has collaborated in a wide spectrum of subject areas throughout her teaching career. Mrs. Foschino has had the responsibility of mentoring new teachers to the district and is currently one of NV High School Instructional/Collaborative Coaches. She studied Spanish Language and Secondary Education at Loyola College in Baltimore where she received her B.A. Having had a strong interest in technology, Ms. Ianna went on to earn an M.S. in Instructional Technology at New York Institute of Technology before completing an Ed.S. in Administration Leadership from Seton Hall University. Ms. Ianna has been a long time member of the staff development team, working closely with the curriculum center. Ms. Ianna has also served as an administrative intern, interim assistant principal and has coached the girls volleyball and softball teams.

Patty has been teaching elementary school for twelve years. She has taught both first and second grades for the past seven years at Northvale Public School. Patty graduated from William Paterson University with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and Sociology. To gain a better understanding of reading and writing, she attended several Columbia University Teachers College workshops and was inspired by Marjorie Martinelli. During Martinelli's workshop, many anchor charts were displayed and created. This is where Patty's passion for anchor charts began and has continued ever since.
Nancy Jakubowyc is the technology teacher at Harrington Park School. She began teaching at HP in 2001 and has taught both mathematics and technology. Nancy holds a Bachelors of Science from TCNJ and advanced degrees in Developmental Psychology and Educational Leadership. Nancy spearheads a district-wide STEM summer program as well as leads STEM activities during winter and spring breaks. Dave Janosz is a Supervisor in the Northern Valley Regional High School district. Prior to that, he taught Technology Education in Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan High School and at Fair Lawn High School, his alma mater, for a total of twelve years. Pamela King is a Behavior Consultant for the Valley Program and Region III Department of Special Education. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology and a minor degree in Nutrition from Ithaca College. Mrs. King has the degree of Teacher of The Handicapped K-12 and has her Master’s in Special Education from Dominican College. In 2011 she received her certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. For the past 19 of her 20 years in Region III, Mrs. King has been a teacher in both Pre-School and Primary classes. Mrs. King has developed and presented workshops on inclusion to Region I, II and III staff. She trains new staff in the Valley Program. Dr. Steven Korner earned his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania and has been appointed to the following positions: director of the child and family unit of the Benjamin Rush Center in Philadelphia; director of psychology and assistant professor of psychiatry, New York Medical College-Metropolitan Hospital Center; and associate professor (tenured) in the doctoral program in child-clinical psychology and director of the school psychology program at Seton Hall University prior to working as a psychologist at Harrington Park School. He has been appointed to chair the continuing education and media committees of the New Jersey Psychological Association, was elected president of the Bergen County Association of Licensed Psychologists, and currently is on the Advisory board of the Learning Disability Association of New Jersey. Dr. Korner has either published or presented over 50 papers and was editorial consultant for the journals Private Practice in Psychotherapy and Psychotherapy in Independent Practice.

Mrs. Alicia Kosakowski is an 8th grade ELA teacher at Haworth Public School. She received her Bachelors Degree in Creative Writing from Florida State University. She also received a Masters of Arts in Teaching English from Montclair State University. Mrs. Kosakowski has taught both 7th and 8th grade ELA throughout her nine years at Haworth Public School. The various presenters at this round table are the members of the Northern Valley ELLs Consortium. We have experience at various levels of teaching and leading within the English Language Learner (ELLs) community. We are teachers and advocates for our ELLs at the local and state level. Some have served on the NJDOE Bilingual Advisory Committee. Others train teachers of both ELLs and mainstream classes at the at the state and national level. We are a team of collaborators who refuse to stay silent because we know that we need to be a voice for the students who do not always have one.

Jeff Krapels is an English Teacher at Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan. Chelsea has been teaching 2nd grade in Norwood for 2 years; before that I taught third grade for 8 years. I was a student that struggled with math, and after teaching for some time -- I realized it's the WAY Math is taught that could help students. I received my Masters in Math, and I (truly) enjoy helping those struggling math students understand how fun math can be.

Mr. Kyle Kubicki is currently teaching Instrumental, Choral, and General Music at Norwood Public school. He received his Bachelor's of Music in Music Education degree from The University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2014 and is currently pursuing his Masters in Music in Wind Conducting at Montclair State University! Aside from teaching at Norwood Public School, Mr. Kubicki has taught High School Marching Band at several local schools. Mr. Kubicki also has a private lesson studio full of wonderful piano and saxophone students of all ages. He is an active performer in the NYC and Greater NYC area performing with Wind Bands, Orchestras, Theater Pit Orchestras, and has accompanied Broadway, New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, and United States Military Band Musicians. Mr. Kubicki has performed all over the country including Symphony Hall in Boston, several NFL stadiums, and The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!

Ms. Shannon Liik is a Special Educator at Luther Lee Emerson School. She is responsible for collaborating and successfully implementing teaching strategies in the inclusion setting as well as the replacement setting. In addition, she works with struggling readers to teach essential skills and strategies to provide explicit instruction for each learner. Joe McCallister is an English teacher at Northern Valley Demarest; previously, he taught at Northern Valley Old Tappan, and at neighboring Cresskill High School. Prior to teaching in high school, he was an adjunct instructor of English at Fairleigh Dickinson University, County College of Morris, and Centenary College, and was an English language instructor in Japan. Before entering education, Joe worked in journalism, covering local government and schools for publications in Virginia and Pennsylvania. As part of his undergraduate work in Communication, he conducted an interdisciplinary study in speech, linguistics, political science, psychology, and statistics; he earned his Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing, and has a short story that will be published in an anthology in the fall/winter of 2016.

Justin Saxon is 6-8th grade special education Language Arts & History teacher. He received a Bachelors Degree from the University of Delaware in English Literature. Using Short Form Eastern Poetry to Teach Language Control to ELA Students
The presenter has had original poetry published in dozens of "little" magazines and literary journals from 1983 to the present. Most recently (and pertinently), his short-form poetry has been published in "American Tanka," "bottlerockets," and Japan's "The Tanka Journal". The presenter has had two different careers: he was a tennis instructor for twenty years before becoming an English teacher at NVOT fifteen years ago.
