March Madness is a tournament that happens in the NCAA every March. The NCAA is the National College Athlete Association. March Madness starts with 68 teams and they compete to be the winning team. The final championship game of 2020 will take place on April 6, 2020, in Atlanta, GA.
The first day of March Madness starts with “Selection Sunday,” which takes place on March 15th. The next date is “The First Four,” which takes place on March 17-18th, 2020. After that is “NCAA Tournament Round 1” which takes place on March 19-20th, 2020, round 2 takes place on March 21-22th, 2020.
The closer games to the championship start with “Sweet 16,” which takes place on March 26-27th, 2020. Then, “Elite 8,” takes place on March 28-29th, 2020. Next, “Final Four,” which takes place on April 4th, 2020. Finally, the championship game, on April 6th, 2020.
March Madness can be exciting, which is why many people follow it. Not only is it exciting, but it gives the audience a peak of future NBA players. To make this event even more thrilling, people bet on who they think they will win.
Fernando Rangel, freshman, says “I don’t follow along as much as others do, but when it is closer to the championships, I tend to pay more attention to it. I’m interested in basketball enough to watch the final game, but not enough for the first couple of rounds.”
Connor Holland, freshman, says “I really enjoy basketball and during March Madness I try to watch as much as I can. I enjoy following along because of the excitement you get watching any sports game.”
Aaron Carranza, freshman, says “I’m a big basketball fan, I usually watch the games during March Madness if I can. If I can’t watch a game, I’ll usually look at social media accounts to see who won and to watch some of the highlights.”
Over the years, March Madness has grown in popularity. March Madness has 68 teams competing, so some of the players will move to go into the NBA. Most basketball fans will follow along since March Madness is so important and exciting. This is an event many people look forward to every March.
