Playing sports while covid cases are rising is affecting Northwest athletes due to restrictions and canceled games. These athletes are frustrated for being able to play the whole season due to pauses or someone in the team tested positive. Northwest athletes answered some questions about “How does playing sports while covid cases are rising to affect them” and they answered.
Brianna Miloradovich, a Sophomore at Northwest said “The covid cases really affect me playing basketball because we have to be careful at practice. With this in mind, some practices may be canceled. Games are very scary because we're around different people who we don't know.”
Can athletes still follow the 6-foot protocol?
Dejaun Chastang, a Sophomore at Northwest stated “ No, to be honest no one follows the six-foot rule. It's impossible to do it while playing basketball. What’s the difference between when you're practicing and the day of the game? Do you use the same precautions?Juan Hernandez, a Sophomore at Northwest stated “When I'm practicing I'm with my team and the people that I see almost everyday. I am less precautious when I am at practice than games.”
Northwest athletes are tired of Covid-19 they just want to play sports by playing it calmly.
