David Taloma is a member of the Basketball Club. Taloma has played basketball before, but claims he isn’t the best player at all. He joined the to add on to weight lifting at Northwest.
Every Monday the Basketball Club meets and plays on the outside courts. The outside courts are a little rougher, especially if you fall. Basketball Club consists of around 23 members that show up consistently to the club, but there are 35 members in the Google classroom.
Taloma enjoys Basketball Club, but he sees it as a sport to get better at and something to do after school. He doesn’t think the club will make him better at the game. “People kill the vibe,” he stated. He doesn’t have built relationships with some of his friends that are in the club, but he has made a new friend in the club aside from that.
He doesn’t think he will play outside of the club often, but he might go every month with his friends. Taloma believes that if his team is desperate he will try his hardest, but he doesn’t try all the time because he plays to have fun. He would skip the club to study for a big test and skip the test for weight training, but he would attend the club if those components aren’t met.
Taloma is still a beginner and would like a beginner station or something to develop the beginners to become intermediate. He believes the club president should be decided with an organized vote; therefore, the vote cannot be decided as the club does not have an arranged voting system. The best play he made at the club was when he intercepted the ball on defense, but then he ran to the other end of the court to make a layup. He would love to work on his dribbling to get better at handling the ball.
All in all Taloma enjoys the club, but he still thinks he needs to develop skills, and have fun with many more people in the basketball community.
