The Northwest Career and Technical Academy archery team hosted a tournament on March 5th. There were varying degrees of success that resulted in Sierra Millard Sophomore in the culinary program placing second for her team.
The Contestants that competed at the tournament were all really close in score with each other. With that being said there are a lot of skills that are needed to perform this well.
“I got four points behind Ethan,” Millard stated with a passionate expression, “I got second on my team, there were about two people who tied for third place on our team as well”.
Gianna DeMartino was also another competitor at the tournament. She discussed the physical skills needed to succeed in the tournament.
“You should know how scoring works, " DeMartino stated in an educational tone, “the proper stance, and how to hold the arrow, shoot properly, and your anchor point”.
Thomas Sabelko reveals how archery is not just physical but also mental.
“I just stay to myself by keeping my mind clear and not getting so worked up on my score”, Sabelko explained in a neutral expression.
