The 2023/2024off session is about to start for most Highschool football teams, which also means some significant changes to the Classes, Regions, and Leagues, so we can only ask if are they fitting.
Athletes need encouragement to perform at their best no matter what school they are against, no matter their rank, and no matter if one feels someone else is better. Coaches' support and encouragement will go far with athletes.
Michael Jackson, a Junior and Varsity Kicker for Canyon Springs Highschool states “Dropping us to 4a allows us to play athletically comparative games. playing in 5a, teams like DP, Arbor, and Gorman, didn't allow us to be on the same playing field athletically.”
5A is the highest level of Sports in Nevada and competing in 5A is a challenging task. With teams such as Arbor View and Bishop Gorman, the crew has to be ready to compete when in 5A, but some teams lack the necessary resources to compete.
Jackson also stated “We wasn't a senior team. In the 21-22 season we were, having a d1 defensive end in Ruan Henderson. Put this past year, we only had about 6 seniors to start. we are very young.”
Having a seasoned team is a must when facing a very seasoned team however when being a young team such as Canyon Springs, the team faces a large learning curve for athletes and coaches.
Hayden Souza, Sophomore and Linebaker/Tight end for Mojave Highschool states “We have a lot of good players leaving the team if we can get a good offensive line, I believe that the juniors and seniors can make something happen.”
When facing big changes of crucial players leaving, leaving shoes to fill and the next in line must fill those shoes in the way coaches need them to.
Coach Zepher a Former Clark Highschool Coach states “I do not consider myself I consider myself a believer in young men, meaning it doesn't matter who is leaving or who is coming in as all I believe and They believe.”
