Program areas of Clark County’s CTE schools are significant as they affect students' career plans. Students should have the opportunity to modify their career path with the change of the program area.
“It’s a bunch of notes and random assignments,” Bryan Manueles, freshman of Teacher’s ED states, “We need to wait until next year to start teaching. It’s too slow.”
Many students complain they’re programs may be out of their standards as it can affect their growth and their want to learn.
“I feel like when people pick their program, that’s the reason they want to go to that school.” Freshman in Bio Med, Jade Griffin points. “When they don’t get in, what’s the point of being there if you're not going to learn about what you want to learn?”
Depending on the students tolerance towards the program area, many should be given the opportunity to modify it, preferably the following year.
“If you’re a freshman and you’ve had your program area the whole year and you just can’t stand it,” Ninth grade health teacher, Ms. Farrimond expresses, “I think you should be allowed to change.”
Many students in middle school are unaware of their future career and may feel uncertain of which path to take. It may become unfair for those who feel unsure of which program to pursue.
CTA schools of Clark County should take this concern into consideration as this dilemma may become an issue for those reaching to achieve their future career.
