On April 23, 2025, the sophomore culinary students had their first annual food truck event at Northwest Career and Technical Academy. Having over 50 food trucks, there was one that projected more than the rest. The creamy cinnamon and warm arroz con leche.
There were over 50 tables set up outside on the quad, every single one having its own unique cuisine. Every ticket Chef Martinez sold went towards one of those 50 tables, each ticket being the price of $1.
Zion Graves is a sophomore, he had a great time during the food truck event. He helped set up his friends' stands, and he loved going around trying all of the different food. He thinks this event was a great way to try a variety of new foods from different cultures.
“I did like a lot of the different foods, but one was honestly better than all the others, and I would say it was that arroz con leche. I like the taste, and the booth was decorated nicely,” Graves expressed.
Natelia Leyva, a sophomore student in veterinary science, went to the food truck event just to hang out with friends and try some new things.
“ I really like arroz con leche to begin with, so I’m very picky when it comes to having it. I really only rarely have it as well but the group that made it was amazing.” Leyva giggled. “I loved that it was warm and freshly made other than other food trucks which had cold food.”
Sierra Spurlock, a junior in the culinary program, is very picky when it comes to certain foods, especially arroz con leche
“Honestly, a lot of desserts I am picky with, to be honest, but I do really enjoy arroz con leche, and I tried theirs and I thought their booth was super cute” Sierra smiled “ I really did like it though, I appreciated it was warm because I like eating it warm and cold.”
