At Northwest CTA, some students might get to have a lesson about dining etiquette. The class is run by Paula Lawrence, the executive director, and will teach students many things about dining etiquette that students could use in the future. The class will be held on Feb.12 and 13. The class is run by Paula Lawrence, the executive director, and will teach students many things about dining etiquette that students could use in the future.
Construction, Engineering, Hospitality, and Media students have a chance to learn important etiquette skills that they can use later in life, like how a person should eat, talk, and behave while dining with others. It’s a possibility that it will be a free class for students to take and so every student in those program areas should take a chance and go to this class because our generation should learn more about dining etiquette.
Most Gen Zers don't know much about dining etiquette which is an important skill to have in the future, whether it's for a social business situation, an interview, or just so you don't look improper while out for lunch with friends or family. Everyone should know at least a little about how to be proper while eating out and the “rules” of how to eat.
Some students at Northwest feel that having the etiquette class will help this generation be better at dining and that it will benefit us in many ways. An anonymous student from Northwest CTA says “ Well, I think that it could be useful to learn because most kids are disrespectful and use their phones while eating at the table.”
Lilianna Hernandez, another student at Northwest CTA has different views on this class than others but isn't alone, “ I honestly feel that if Northwest had an etiquette class, it wouldn't be that beneficial because while observing others, we don't retain knowledge. At least this generation doesn’t,” Though some people tend to forget things easily, it would be nice to take a chance and possibly remember at least the most important parts of properly eating while out.
Though this class has the school split on if it’s really a good class to take, the class has no real negatives about it and could actually benefit students in the near future, whether it is important or not.
