Trends are known to help us become popular and to have more friends. In fact, as soon as a trend is put out, kids will do anything to follow it.
Kids are pressured into today’s styles and get lost sometimes but when kids don’t wear what’s“in style” now they get bullied for it.
“It has affected not only the things they do but also how they carry and conduct themselves. This includes the luggage they carry, the makeup they put on, clothes they wear, physique piercing, and hairstyles among other things” stated Classic Polo in their article, “How Do Fashion Trends Affect Teens?”
Kids in Northwest Career and Technical school are like this. The cool kids don’t eat lunch or bring one and the “weird” kids do. The cool kids don’t have a water bottles and the “weird” kids do. The cool kids wear makeup and the “weird” kids don’t.
“I have seen people get insulted by what they are wearing just because it is outdated and isn’t up with the styling trends.” stated NWCTA Sophomore Haley Grisemann
Fashion is supposed to be a statement where kids can express themselves but when kids do and it isn’t something that is not trendy other kids always make fun of them.
“However, these teens, when they do not have money to shop, are often stressed. Most of them believe that since they are unable to afford these clothes, they would not be up-to-date with the current style trends, and they will not fit in,” stated Classic Polo.
And sometimes clothes that are in style are really expensive and other kids don’t want to buy a trendy sweater for $50 and other times they just don’t have money.
Today's kids are pressured so much already by their peers and social media. Every kid suffers from their image of how they look but instead of judging others for how they look. They should understand and lend out a helping hand not judge them because they don’t look cool or aren’t considered cool.
Kids should feel confident in what they wear. They shouldn’t spend an hour in their closet wondering, “What would others think?”
