Many students believe starting the school day so early could be beneficial now and in the long run as well.
“I find it tough to wake up in the morning sometimes,” says Freshman, Valerie Martinez, “But I enjoy it especially when I get to see the sunrise.”
Waking up early for school can negatively affect students, but it also has many benefits. Students are able to prepare themselves for adulthood, see the sunrise, spend time with friends and family, and get out earlier at the end of the day.
“After school, we have a lot of time for ourselves and our families,” says Freshman, Cienna Turner.
It can be very difficult to find time for family and friends when students have so much time at school. With an early start time, students can spend time with their families after school.
“I think our current start time is really early and I don’t love it,” says Freshman Irene Cuevas, “But I’m okay with it because then we get out early.”
There are many downsides to having such an early start time, but the positives outweigh the negatives. Many students in CCSD agree with this and love the early start time for high schools.
