Every year around this time, Mrs.Kraft has her sock baby project. The idea behind is to teach kids on learning development. Lots of people are very interested in this project, Mrs. Kraft and a few of her students have been doing this project since 2021.
Mrs. Kraft and her students really enjoy doing this project, she has around three projects which she does all year around and the sock babies have to be everyone’s favorite.
“I think a lot of people end up enjoying this project it has to do a lot with development and how hard it is to really take of the baby” Mrs. Kraft explained.
Mrs. Kraft thinks that the flour babies that some other schools do aren’t the best idea, however a better idea than the sock babies would be baby simulating dolls.
“People grow very attached to their babies but something even better would have to be the babies that are animatronic.” Mrs. Kraft giggled. “I really think that would teach kids more responsibility and not let them forget to bring their babies to school or even lose them.”
Giovanni Saldivar, a junior in the engineering program, finds AP Psychology to be amusing.
“I really like this class and what we learn overall and I think this is a really cool project because we get to learn more responsibility,” Saldivar smirked. “I like the fact that it goes with our unit about development too.”
This is only the second time that AP Psychology has even done sock babies, but this is a reoccurring event for Dual Enrollment which people end up overlooking.
“This is almost my way of recruiting kids to join the class.” Mrs.Kraft laughed. “But this is no simple project. You have to make a whole scrap book for your baby, write a two page essay reflecting on how challenging it was, and then answer some questions.”
