Monsoon season can act as a relief from the hot desert sun of Las Vegas, but it can also interrupt students’ plans, however, they have been finding ways to stay occupied and take advantage of the downtime that the season gives.
"It hasn’t been bad. The days that were the heaviest were in late August,” Jackson Parks, a sophomore, explained.
During monsoon season, the weather can sometimes disrupt students’ plans, leaving them with a lot of time on their hands but many have found their own ways of keeping themselves occupied regardless of what it may be, like self-care or digital entertainment being just a couple of the many activities that students participate in.
“I tend to like to drink hot chocolate and watch a movie. It had only affected me a little bit—it was positive, though,” sophomore Kirsten Applegarth commented.
Some students appreciate the break from the hot summer sun that Las Vegas has to offer and relish the change from the dry heat to the cooler, rainier weather that monsoon season brings. It can be a breath of fresh air for those who enjoy the relaxing atmosphere that rain can carry with it.
“I really enjoyed it. It’s a switch-up from the heat,” Parks went on.
