Creative art pieces displayed throughout Northwest CTA created high spirits for the Sadies dance. Following the theme announcement, you're the one that I want, a deco night hosted by the student council on Friday, January 13, allowed students to take part in their creation.
While attending a career and technical academy may not be the usual high school experience, events like dances bring excitement to the student body and a chance to complete numerous community service hours. The lead-up to the special day enticed students like Daniela Barron, a junior who helped create decorations.
“Dances are what makes high school exciting,” commented Barron. “But they aren’t possible without the help of our school community.”
The time and effort put into the themed arrangements did not go unnoticed as Clarizza Perucho, a junior emphasizes the value they bring to our school.
“I believe that decorations contribute to our school spirit because a change in scenery from our daily school lives can bring excitement,” Perucho stated. “It also allows students and teachers to bond.”
The profits made at these dances go directly back to the school, meaning that attendance is vital. The organization takes endless amounts of effort, Kymber Williams, junior, describes the importance of the contributions.
“Decorations do very positively impact school spirit,” Williams said. “The decorations that we currently have provided a festive environment which gets students excited by offering a reprieve from the daily monotony of high school life.”
Service opportunities at school, like deco nights, happen regularly and make enjoyable occasions a viable possibility. Attendance at these events matters; the responsibility not only lies on the student council but also on the school as a whole.
“It reminds us that there is something to look forward to,” Stated Williams. “And, it shakes things up a bit, consequentially improving school spirit.”
