The ACT is a nationally accepted test that 16-17 year olds take to measure their academic success. WIth over 1.6 million students taking the exam every year, it is not something that should be taken lightly.
The ACT being one of the required tests for college applications, many students around the world are studying long and hard to get a good score. A score of 20 will net you in the 50th percentile of the test, meaning that you in the average population taking the test.
ACT boot camps are available to study, and learn the ways of this test. In the majority of these bootcamps the tutors will tell you that the test is not about how smart you are, it is about how well you understand test taking methods. Asking a Junior at Northwest, Dominik Bana, he said, “The test is not hard in terms of content, but it is extremely difficult to get the right comprehension in the limited amount of time.”
When asked about his practice test score during the bootcamp Bana said “I scored a 26 on the first test we took in the camp, and after hearing everything they had to say I went up to a 32.” The ACT bootcamp is a really good method to learn more about the test.
Alternatives to the bootcamp being personal one on one tutoring in a classroom setting, or group tutoring in a school.
