Ever since the education system reopened from the quarantine, Ai usage by students at school has increased significantly, to levels where observers call it an epidemic. Although many of these students use it daily, the majority of them abuse AI instead of using it, which can lead to long term effects on the brain.
Many schools have made it clear about how Ai is being used, especially with how students are making it do all of their work.
“I won’t use it for hard work since I like to challenge myself,” Sofia Pineda freshman states, “But for easy work I use ChatGPT.”
However, studies show that AI reduces memory and brain activity. Students that are against AI seem to know more about this.
“I have read before that the more you use AI,” Vida Agundez explains, “The less they use a part of their brain so it kind of shrinks.”
Despite most schools restricting AI for reasons, teachers still want their students to be exposed to how AI works.
“I do like AI and I use it in my classroom…” teacher Katie Spanish says, “so that my students understand how to use it as a research tool.”
