Teamwork is a skill that students need in their everyday life and the soccer club helps build this skill on the field. Joining Soccer club benefits students both with teamwork and their physical health.
Senior, Hugo Estrada explains, “When participating in sports at school you build good relationships with your classmates and learn how to work in a team.”
Coming from people who have been in an established soccer club outside of school and who also participate in the school club see thesimilarities. But the most common is the relationships that are built between teammates.
Having school sports teams help students build better connections with their classmates and can better help people get along in a school environment.
Senior, Ezekiel Perez quotes,“Our school team is more laid back but having the experience of teammates is similar.”
Sports not only help with building teamwork it also helps people find new friends which can be a struggle for some kids in high school.
Senior, Christopher Cortez, captain of the NWCTA soccer team says, “Kids need athleticism, most of these kids are stuck in their shells but sports and being a part of a team can help them get out of that.”
Twenty to thirty kids show up consistently each week to practice, with the amount of kids who you know have the same interest as you, it’s a great way to make new friends.
Perez adds“Being a student-athlete it can get overwhelming but the joy you get from paying makes it worth it.”
Being involved in sports is a big responsibility but the outcome of having won and losses with a team is worth it.
Estrada continues to share “The relationships between teammates are almost unbreakable.”
Depending on how you look at it sports can either be a hassle or can be a fun way to get away from the world. If you really love the sport, the hardships that come with it don't outweigh the benefits.
David Forbes, NWCTA soccer club coach says, “Sports are a great way to unwind and give out excess energy especially right after school it's a good way to help kids blow off some steam, prepare them to do homework, and relax."
