Here at Northwest Career Technical Academy, we recently had a five-day pause throughout the whole Clark County district. Numbers are striking due to covid, fewer students are coming as well as we’re experiencing staffing shortages.
Many here at Northwest didn’t think the five-day pause did anything and think it wasn’t enough time for someone to get better. A teacher here at Northwest, Mr.Woods, gave his opinion on the five-day pause and how he felt about it.
“The five-day pause was not enough time. We have a 30% infection rate so not sure why all of our health is being put at risk. I think we need to be online for at least a couple of more weeks.”
Hearing from a teacher’s perspective, I also asked a student here at Northwest, Violeta Alverez, how she felt about the five-day pause.
“I was a little scared and kinda stressed because I didn’t know what was going to happen.”
Throughout this school year dealing with COVID, everything has always been up in the air and nothing has been settled down with going back online or staying in person.
Mr.Woods mentions, “It scares me. Makes me wonder why the School District/State is putting all of our health at risk. Wondering if I am going to get seriously sick and maybe die because of politics and not common sense.”
