BYPTSD invites parents to become active with their child(ren) on January 18 and 19 at NWCTA. When it comes to the Family Community Group (FCG), parents were wondering when it was going to come back, due to the last one being in 2019.
According to Mrs. Hicks, Assistant Principal, “I think that hearing from our community, families were very excited about this opportunity. They have been asking during our FCG for 2 years to find out when we were going to bring it back.”
Though, students seem to not be looking forward to this day as much due to stress levels. Some are afraid of disappointing their parents with how they act at school.
According to Jordan Doyle, Sophomore, “I think my peers are nervous for BYPTSD because we get this big pressure from our parents trying to get good grades and having our parents see how different we act at school vs at home.”
Though, some students feel as if BYPTSD should be canceled overall because of trafficking issues within the hallway.
According to Bekka Budde, Junior, “I think they should cancel it. Hallways are already crowded enough and there may be slow parents. I think they should get out of class 10 minutes early to make it to the next class on time.”
Some parents dont have the time to stop by during the school day, so only a few showed up. On the other hand, some parents cant physically attend.
According to Doyle, “No, my dad would rather go to work than come to a high school with a bunch of teenagers and my mom is physically unable to due to her body being in pain.”
Some students, though, think that it depends on the student and their parents to determine if they’re excited or not.
According to Hector Arenas, Senior, “Some might be, some might not be. Some people try to use school as an escape from home life but some students would also like to have their parents experience what they do at school.”
