At NWCTA, the assemblies planned for school events are always an opportunity for clubs and their members to show off their talents. Not only is the performing aspect of it important, but the practices and behind-the-scenes that lead up to the assembly days.
One of the clubs performing for the assembly on Oct. 24 is K-Pop Club. Preparing two separate dances, one of them being performed another time during homecoming week, the process has been smoother for these members than expected.
“I feel like it’s going really good,” club president and senior Vynn Kremenek remarks on their preparation. “All the steps that we’ve taken have really helped us to get to this point.”
These members have been practicing as much as they can after school, and have made substantial progress from when they first started, hardly knowing any of the dance. One thing that has helped them learn quickly is their group chemistry and willingness to get the song down.
“We’re more prepared this time, especially when we’ve done the dance too many times to count,” club secretary and junior Rose Viray states. “And I also feel like the group is very lively since we all go together really well. Plus, our coordination and communication are really good.”
Moreover, as members of the club who have participated in previous assemblies, it’s been satisfying for them to see how their practices overall have been flowing more smoothly.
“Honestly, my favorite part has been having the members teach each other,” Vynn comments on their chemistry. “Also watching how easily we click together, and how easy we’re learning the dance from each other.”
And certainly, it’s a mutual feeling among most of the members in the dance.
“I love the energy we always bring,” Rose explains. “It feels like you wouldn’t see us out together, but then when we get into a room with each other, it feels like we’re always in sync.”
With the amount of preparation they’ve done for this dance, there’s more anticipation among them all for the actual day of.
“Especially as we get closer, I’m looking forward to kind of seeing how it all turns out,” Vynn expresses enthusiastically. “I'm excited to do not only one dance, but two dances with people who share the same interest. And the outfits, when it’s all put together, all of our practice and everything else will definitely pay off.”
K-Pop Club will be performing “THIS IS FOR” by TWICE at the homecoming assembly, Oct. 24, and “Debut” by KATSEYE during both lunches on Oct. 21.
