As the final traces of summer come to an end, the new 2023 school year has arrived, along with new possibilities for clubs and activities. Getting involved this year is a perfect way to transform the campus into a canvas of opportunities, and here are ways you can get involved.
Students at Northwest can participate in a variety of activities. Student participation at the school has many benefits such as increasing students' chances of meeting new people and setting higher expectations for their futures.
“After-school activities give students the opportunity to explore new interests, make new friends, and know that there is a caring adult on our campus who is there for them in times of need.” Assistant principal, Mrs. Oviatt says.
Northwest offers over 50 clubs for students to join, but what club is best for you? Some popular clubs recommended are Hip Hop, Poly, Volleyball, Key Club, and many others.
“Anyone can join any club! Personally, I think Being a part of hip-hop club has made me become more outgoing, and helped build my confidence as well. HHC is so fun, and we all just come together like one big family, it feels good to be part of something” Captain, Ariella Lai Bui says.
Participating in extracurriculars can be a great way to make new friends, learn new skills, and become more involved in your school. Joining a club can also be a great way to challenge yourself and step outside your comfort zone.
Sophomore, Kimberly Sarabia says, “I’ve been a part of volleyball for 2 years now, and I feel that I have learned many new skills, and made lots of new friends. Clubs are just a great way to branch out, and get more involved.”
Extracurricular activities at Northwest are plentiful, and students should take advantage of these opportunities to build new friendships and explore new interests. More information can be found on the Northwest website if interested in joining a club.
