Colleges have been visiting the Northwest CTA campus since October, giving scholarship information and information on the colleges itself.
There have been 23 unique colleges to come to Northwest so far, with at least 3 more coming in March. These colleges include ones like CSN, UNLV, UNR, DSU, and the military.
DSU --Dixie State University-- already came to Northwest in November and are coming again this March. This is just one of the universities and colleges that come to Northwest.
They have many opportunities, such as 200+ academic options, low enrollment costs, 84% of students getting scholarships, and a 100% acceptance rate. Most of these, if not all, would be shared at an event.
The College and Career center was rebranded recently to be more inclusive. It’s used to provide pathways for all student’s next steps into the military, careers, and college opportunities.
Many students go into some sort of post-secondary education, and the College and Career center allows for more awareness about the opportunities students have. About 100 colleges visited the campus between August and December of last year, with January through March only being local and surrounding schools. Any student can go to these meetings as long as they fill out the form, get teacher approval, and they can last up to half an hour.
The center also offers career and technical education credits, which can help in college and future professions. Mrs. Hicks, the assistant principal of the center, said that “The school has many opportunities and scholarships for a cheaper price.” It doesn't just offer CTE, but also magnet programs, internships, summer programs, and community partnerships.
The community partnerships allow them to offer the opportunities that the school does. These components are worked on in the center. All of these college visit meetings are held in the college and career center, which is room 806.
Overall, the college visits to the school can open you up to many more opportunities for your future. These are all explained in the visits by the schools on the campus.
