Capstone day is a huge event where seniors get to show off their long hard work. This is an important day for juniors as well, they can start to get a feel for what they'd want their Capstone Day to look like.
NWCTA junior Brianna Serna, “Seeing all of the capstone projects was such an awakening day because I realized how close capstone is for me and it gave me a lot of inspiration for what to do for my project.’’
Brianna expressed how she liked seeing all of the capstone projects and it gave her a sense of reality knowing that this will be a project that she will really have to think about and bring to life this time next year.
Brianna continued, “I'm in Teachers Ed and I saw how impactful a lot of Teacher Ed projects can be especially when you pair with another program area and you can mix ideas based on what you've learned all four years and create something either really fun or serious even.’’
Collaborating with other program areas is a way that seniors can share their experiences and knowledge and Brianna was very open to the idea of being able to meet new people and form a memorable project.
“However I did find some flaws with capstone day, I liked this year much more than last year because we got to walk around and see everyones project in person and ask questions, but I just don't feel like it was organized enough.’’
Brianna went on and explained that even though she was able to find ideas she just didn't feel like she was able to get to everybody and really take in what hard work the seniors put into their projects and get an idea for what she really wanted to do.
“Walking around all day was just kind of boring, I feel like if it was broken up into 2 days of presentations and a half day of walking around people would have gotten a better understanding of all of the projects and people would not have been so bored by the end of it, that way the underclassmen would give better attention and equal attention to the projects and the seniors would not be so burnt out by the end.’’
Brianna had mixed feelings about capstone day, there were lots of new ideas and it was an awakening overall, from getting new ideas and the chaos of trying to get through to the projects that she was excited to see.
“I want my capstone day to be calm and not filled with stress or chaos, so I feel like there are things that could use a change, but by the end I was not disappointed.’’
