Thank You, Chainsaw Man

Tatsuki Fujimoto’s hit manga series, Chainsaw Man, has finally concluded after eight years, with the support of many fans. However, fans feel as if the ending was too lackluster compared to how well-crafted the series was. Others argue that the ending fits the plot and that it contributed to the main character, Denji’s, development.

There are mixed opinions about the conclusion, with some fans saying that it made the whole series a waste of time. The common consensus was that the ending was bad; some argue that it fulfilled Denji’s goal. Junior Juan Ramos argues for the former.

“I feel like the ending was bad, but that it wasn't all bad,” Juan argues. “There was a lot to be desired with the ending. The story felt wasted, but there could've been a worse ending, and I somewhat understand why Fujimoto would end the manga like this.”

Many fans are convinced that they could have written the ending better, over exaggerating how bad it was. They believe that the ending abandoned everything that led up to it. Junior Noah Rodgers supports this belief.

“The entirety of the ending was supposedly made to be a happier alternative part of the world,” Noah explained. “But without saying any spoilers, it also ruined all of the world-building throughout the entire story. Every chapter was practically erased for the readers.”

Even though the ending is supposed to be a happy ending for Denji, fans debate whether he is truly happy or not. They argue that Denji isn’t truly happy since he lost everyone who made him happy. Junior Rafael explains the confusion.

“I believe Denji is happy for not living that awful life before the ending,” Rafael states. “But in turn, he would lose his friends and everyone he had learned to care about. I mean, it's easy to see how fans think the ending is bad at first.”
