Renew Anne with an E

Anne with an E is a Canadian drama television show that aired its third season on Jan. 3, 2020 and Netflix has announced the show will not have a season 4. 

The Canadian show is based on the 9-book series written by Lucy Maud Montgomery in 1908. A young girl named Anne Shirley who is sent to be adopted by Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, siblings who never married. However, when expecting a boy to help them with their farm, they are mistakenly given Shirley. The series follows Shirley and her adventures while living at a farm in Prince Edward Island during the late 1890s. 

Anne With An E is only 1 out of the 6 shows that adapted this children's book into a television show, the earliest being from 1952. There are also movies, plays, and even radio productions that are based on the novel. 

The Netflix series stars R.H Thomson, Geraldine James, Lucas Jade Zumann, and Amybeth McNulty as Shirley. There are a total of 27 episodes with each being from 45 minutes to an hour long. In 2018, at the Candian Screen Awards, the show won for best drama series and won the same award a year later.

In this show, it brings a lot of strong emotion and mentions situations we have or are currently facing. All the actors are amazing when performing their characters, even making the audience feel their emotion which can make you laugh and/or even bring you to tears. Unlike the other popular children and/or teen television shows, Anne with an E is quite different and is worth the watch. 

Though the show is very popular and loved by many, Netflix cancelled the show after releasing the 3rd season in the beginning of the 2020 year. Netflix claims it was due to the lack of audience growth aging from 27 to 54. Fans were not happy and responded with a petition, and even using the hashtag #renewannewithane to bring the cast back for another season.
