When four teenagers picked up their instruments and formed Hey-Hot-Line, they did more than start a band. They created a space to grow, share their passion, and connect with their community.
The group, made up of Tiana Arriaga and Brendon Shen from Northwest CTA, Vashti Albanetti from Shadow Ridge HS, and Abbiel Acosta, also from Shadow Ridge HS, came together over music and quickly discovered the thrill of performing for an audience.
“I was always too scared to sing, but when I got into a band, I kind of got pushed to not being scared,” said Tiana Arriaga, the singer from
Northwest CTA. Once shy and nervous about performing, Tiana now lights up the stage with confidence. Music has given her courage and a way to express herself that words alone cannot capture.
For Brendon Shen, the lead guitarist, performing is about more than just playing notes. “It was exciting to be able to get up on a stage again,” he said about their First Friday show. Brendon thrives on seeing the audience react to their music. The connection between the band and their fans is what makes each performance meaningful to them.
Bassist Vashti Albanetti of Shadow said the crowd's energy made the night unforgettable. “It was fun because I had a lot of fans there,” she recalled. Feeling the audience cheer and sing along reminded her why playing music is so rewarding.
Drummer Abbiel Acosta, also from Shadow, shared his excitement for the experience. “When people gathered during our set, it was pretty insane,” he said. Abbiel’s enthusiasm shows how the band’s energy spreads to the crowd, making every show feel electric.
Through laughter, practice, and shared challenges, Hey-Hot-Line is more than a band. They are four teenagers learning from each other, building confidence, and creating music that leaves an impression. Their story is a reminder that talent, passion, and teamwork can turn a simple idea into something unforgettable.
