Ms. Tanin begins her 21st year as a licensed educator in the 2025–2026 school year. She currently serves as a Gifted and Talented Education Specialist in the Clark County School District, where she works with students in grades 3–5 to develop their critical thinking, creativity, and 21st-century learning skills. She holds certifications in All Elementary Subjects, Gifted and Talented Education, and English Language Acquisition and Development (formerly TESL).
Originally from the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area, Ms. Tanin earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she was on the Dean’s List and a member of the Alpha Zeta academic fraternity. She later completed her Master of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Before entering education, she worked as an executive in the horticultural industry, traveling extensively throughout the U.S. and abroad.
Ms. Tanin and her art teacher husband moved to Las Vegas to pursue new opportunities in education. They live in Summerlin South with their thirteen-year-old son. Outside of school, she enjoys being a baseball mom, gardening, and spending summers in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Her professional passions include social-emotional learning, visual thinking, and supporting the whole child.
Ms. Tanin’s love for teaching began early—her first paid teaching job, at the age of 15, was teaching ballet, tap, and jazz for her local park and recreation department. That joy in helping students grow has never left her.
