Course Overview:
AP World History is a rigorous, yearlong course designed to explore major global themes, historical developments, and key concepts across different time periods. Equivalent to an introductory college-level history course, students will examine how societies, cultures, political systems, economies, and interactions have shaped the world over time.
This course has three primary goals. First, it prepares students for success in advanced high school, college, and university-level history courses. Second, it develops critical thinking, analytical writing, and historical reasoning skills that are essential for success in the 21st century. Finally, the course is designed to make learning world history engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable. Students will demonstrate their understanding of course content and skills through participation in the College Board AP World History Exam in May.
