Every year, I am amazed at how smart, enthusiastic, and ambitious the students' at K.O. are. The students' at K.O. make me a better teacher and I cannot wait to see what the students’ do this year! I have been teaching in CCSD since 1997 with the exception of a 4-year span where I stayed at home with my children. I taught at Cashman MS, Swainston MS, and now I am lucky to be here at K.O. K.O. is a great school with wonderful students!
I believe in providing my children with real life experiences in my classroom. Everything we do (during school and out of school) is a learning experience! My out of school life keeps me busy does greatly impact the way I teach. Being a parent and a teacher gives me a very reflective way of teaching. I have a wonderful family with two children (19-year old UNR college student and 16-year-old boy Junior at A-tech). My hobbies include traveling, photography, and scrapbooking. I plan on traveling to a National Park in every state.
When I learn technology, I just like to explore and play with it. I see that in the students’ today. Letting students’ experience the technology to see what they discover they can do and teaching me something new is one of greatest experiences for me in my classroom. Watching a student figure out something and then sharing it with others is also an amazing experience. Nothing pleases me more than to have the students' teach me something about a computer program.
I received a Masters of Education with an emphasis in computers from Lesley University in 2001. Technology is constantly changing and today's kids are smarter because of it. As a teacher and a student, I am constantly taking classes to keep up with the changes in technology.
