About MRS. Rampton

Heather Rampton is honored to be selected as a 2019 recipient of the Heart of Education Award.

Mrs. Rampton was one of twenty educators selected among over 800 finalists.

Mrs. Rampton was born and raised in Las Vegas. She graduated from Las Vegas Academy and went to Brigham Young University in Utah. She has an B.F.A. degree in Music Performance (Percussion emphasis) and Media Arts, with an emphasis in Documentary Film Production. Before becoming a teacher, Mrs. Rampton worked professionally in sports broadcasting and news production. Mrs. Rampton also has a M.Ed. degree from UNLV in Curriculum and Instruction.

Mrs. Rampton participated in professional development and fellowships at Columbia University, New York University, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2010, Mrs. Rampton was named the Nevada History Teacher of the Year by the Gilder Lehrman Institute for teaching American History. Mrs. Rampton was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2006 by the Southern Nevada Council for Social Studies. Mrs. Rampton has presented at conferences such as the International Society for Technology Education (ISTE), National Council for Social Studies (NCSS), National Science Teachers' Association (NSTA) and Computer-Using Educators (CUE). In 2009, Mrs. Rampton founded Girls Rock Vegas,a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to empowering girls through music creation and performance (http://www.girlsrockvegas.org).

Mrs. Rampton strongly believes in arts integration and is very excited to be a member of the K.O. Knudson faculty!
