Hello!
I have been at Canyon Springs High School since 2018, and a part of the Clark County School District since 2015!
Before coming to Nevada, I taught in Philadelphia, PA, and in Saint Michaels, AZ.
I graduated from Cabrini University (Magna cum Laude) in 2012. At Cabrini I obtained degrees in American Studies, History, and Secondary Education as well as minors in Social Justice and Religious Studies. I also obtained my first teaching license. I spent the 2012-2013 school year on the Navajo Reservation in rural Arizona as a part of the Mercy Volunteer Corps.
I graduated with my Masters of Science in Education (M.S.Ed) from Saint Joseph's University in 2015. I was a teaching fellow with the Alliance for Catholic Education at SJU. I am a certified Reading Specialist for PreK-12, currently licensed in Pennsylvania and Nevada. I also completed a professional certificate entitled the "Robert A. Fox Leadership Program" from the University of Pennsylvania.
In 2017, I finished the requirements for my English Language Acquisition and Development certification at Nevada State College.
I am a huge believer in Project Based Learning, and I like to blend my classroom with new technological advances while maintaining traditional note taking and observation. Students in my classes are continuously engaged and active participants in their learning. I believe that students should be aware of their surroundings and it is my goal to create global citizens that leave my room ready to challenge the world. I have high expectations of my students, who generally rise to meet them.
I became an educator to help cultivate a better future. My students are seeds that have been planted, and it is my job as their teacher to help them grow.
Outside of my professional obligations, I am a fan of books, tea, and cats. I am currently penning a memoir of my time as a full time volunteer after college, as well as a book of poetry. I do not aspire to fame, but to show my students- past, current, and future- that your options are vast if you give flight to dream.
Since beginning my teaching career, I have taught the following courses:
