Teacher Biography
I am a National Board Certified teacher in English Language & Literature (Adolescence through Young Adulthood). I earned my master’s in Secondary Education English Curriculum & Instruction in 2019.
This will be my tenth year teaching English in CCSD, and second year teaching Spanish at South CTA. I currently teach English 9, 9H & 11H. I've taught almost every high school ELA level in the past, including: English 9, 9H, 10, 10H, 11, 11H AP Language & Composition, and Dual Credit 101/102.
I am currently licensed to teach English Language and Literature, Spanish Language, and French Language. My career path was shaped by my love of English literature and writing. Learning new languages is one of my passions, and I am honored to help your students acquire the foundations of the Spanish language this year.
My goal is to provide rich literacy-based instruction and creative project-based education for every student.
I aim to create lessons that are relevant, accessible, and joyful for all learners. I look for opportunities to connect STEM learning with ELA literacy and writing strategies.
I am a National Board Certified Teacher in Adolescence and Young Adulthood/English Language. I received my certification in 2022 after a two-year process of testing my content and pedagogical knowledge, as well as submitting portfolio evidence of my individualized curriculum strategies, videos of my teaching practice, reflections on my professional development, and analysis of student data. I am an advocate for NBCT as a process that has helped me grow as a teacher and helped me better serve my students and school communities.
I graduated magna cum laude from the UNLV Honors College in 2016 with my Bachelor's in English, and soon after began my Master's in Education for Secondary English Curriculum and Instruction (2019). I started my teaching career in 2017, and in 2022, I returned to my love of languages by adding credentials to my license to teach Spanish and French. I am now in my tenth year in the classroom as an English and Spanish high school teacher.
