In 2nd grade, the students are expected to master addition and subtraction facts through 12. Each week the students will take an addition or subtraction fact test to practice their fact fluency. They will need to complete 20 problems in 1 minute. We begin with subtraction facts, and each child will move at their own pace. Once the child has finished subtraction facts through 12, they will move on to review addition facts. If they finish all the addition facts, they will move on to multiplication facts to prepare for 3rd grade. Below are addition and subtraction fact tests similar to those they will work on at school. Math fact fluency is one of the keys to math success in the upper grades. Practicing math facts in multiple ways is a great way to build quick recall of facts.
