About Me

I was very excited at the opportunity to teach Art at K.O. - the Magnet School of Art. I wanted the chance to help students prepare for advancement in the Art programs within our District, and maybe even an Art Career.
My belief is that every person has the ability to succeed in Art and become a fully-rounded, creative citizen.
I am a native of Las Vegas, Nevada, and my childhood home is around the corner from KO. I graduated with a Bachelors of Art with an emphasis in painting from UNLV in 1994. My Mother, a Kindergarten teacher for 36 years, encouraged me to teach Art. I wanted to teach because I often did not have a person in my school career that took the time to guide me in the right direction. I recieved a Graduate Licensure in Education from UNLV. I have been teaching Art in the CCSD for 25 (or more) years.
I believe a teacher should practice what they preach; I have had several solo art shows in Vegas galleries. I have painted murals, designed sets for local conventions, and recently drew the artwork for Las Vegas' Neon Museum coloring book.
In 2021, I was one of the finalists for the Heart of Education Award.
FUN FACTS:
- My Grandfather, Leslie Clover Jones, is buried next to the actual K.O. Knudson at the Bunkers Eden Vale Memorial Park on Las Vegas Blvd.
- I was named “Obsessed Fan of the Week” in August of 2006 by Entertainment Weekly for being a passionate fan of Disneyland.
