ABOUT ME

I am Mr. Alexander and I am in my first full year teaching at KO Knudson. I am new to the teaching profession and wish to help provide excellent mathematics education to the students in our community. After attending University of Arizona (where I earned a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering in 1992), I returned to my home town of Las Vegas where I had careers in both the airline and hotel industries. The COVID-19 pandemic provided an opportunity to change careers and begin teaching math, just as my mother did here at CCSD.

I have been married since 1999 and my wife and I enjoy playing and spending time whenever possible with our grand-children. We also enjoy travelling, good food, Dodger Baseball, Golden Knights Hockey, and watching airplanes.

We also enjoy a wide variety of music and are grateful for any chance to attend concerts. I also enjoy playing and writing music as a hobby when I can find the time.

My wife and I enjoy the Kentucky Derby every year. In 2017 we managed to attend the races for the weekend. We have a very small investment in a horse that qualified for the 2022 Derby, but could not run due to injury. There is a lot of math involved in this hobby, especially probability and statistics.

I was invited by my friends to play saxophone in the orchestra for a theatrical production. I was about half the age that I am now. I feel very strongly about integration of arts in our curriculum so I am grateful to be on the faculty at KO. As a teacher I am always on the lookout for opportunities to combine math with the arts in a meaningful way.
